Douglas Birdsall

Douglas Birdsall is a respected global Christian leader, missionary, and leadership development advocate with more than four decades of international ministry experience. He currently serves as Ambassador-at-Large and Board Member of A3 Leaders and is the Honorary Chair of the Lausanne Movement.
Doug and his wife, Jeanie Birdsall, began their missionary service in Japan in 1980 through A3, formerly known as LIFE Ministries and later Asian Access. Over the years, Doug played a key role in expanding leadership development and church planting initiatives across Asia, helping establish ministries in countries including Mongolia, China, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.
From 1991 to 2007, Doug served as President of Asian Access, where he led the organization’s transformation into a movement focused on equipping Christ-centered leaders and strengthening churches throughout Asia. He later served as Executive Chair of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization, helping lead the historic Cape Town 2010 Congress that brought together Christian leaders from nearly 200 countries.
Doug has also served as President of the  and as the founding director of the J. Christy Wilson, Jr. Center for World Missions at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is widely recognized for his passion for servant leadership, global collaboration, and developing leaders who create lasting impact in their communities and nations.
A graduate of  and , Doug also pursued advanced studies at  and the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies. Together with Jeanie, he continues to mentor and encourage leaders around the world through his ongoing involvement with A3 and global mission initiatives.
